Who Are You?

Who are you? Have you ever thought about that question? There are two answers. First, there is who you believe you are and then there is who everyone else thinks you are. One would think you would essentially be the same but unfortunately, that is not the case.

The world determines who you are based on what they see and hear from you – they have no other data points. You, on the other hand, are privy to all the inner workings of your thoughts and feelings that determine who you really are in your entirety.

Why is this important? Try to take a bird’s eye view of how the world is seeing you in comparison to the “whole you.” A lot is falling through the divide each day. Think in terms of your spouse, boss, children, team, colleagues, family, friends, etc. You can bridge the gap but only when you realize that the world assesses you daily based solely on your words and actions. That’s why the adage is so true, “I’m not a mind reader!”

With Gratitude,
Beth
P.S. You can just as easily flip this. Take a family member for example. You only “know” them based on what you see and hear. Is it possible there is more to them than that? I’m sure of it!
