Arguing With Reality

Do you know what the #1 struggle is for most people? Regardless of economic status, the #1 struggle is money, by far actually. Rich or poor, we all seem to worry about money. If you have it, you don’t want to lose it and if you don’t have it, you are looking to find it.

We all think that our shrinking bank account is making us unhappy but that is not true. It’s our thoughts about those circumstances that make us unhappy. Our thoughts determine our feelings. You think I am splitting hairs here but there is a huge difference. So how can you end this struggle?

What is the exact thought causing this struggle? It’s based in worry and fear. Detach yourself from that thought and become an observer of it. Now ask yourself “What do I want?” Is it security? Comfort? Freedom? After you know what you want, ask yourself “what actions can I take to get there?” Fear and peace cannot coexist. By creating your action steps, you (and your thoughts) will switch to creativity and self-love which will nullify fear. It’s not the circumstances that make us unhappy, it is our thoughts about those circumstances.

With Gratitude,
Beth

P.S. Byron Katie’s quote may help: “When you argue with reality, you lose—but only 100% of the time.”
