I was rereading Becoming a Person of Influence by John C. Maxwell yesterday and one story, in particular, struck me. It was about Richard Nixon at arguably one of the lowest points in his life. He was in the hospital ready to give up on life when a nurse came in and opened the curtains. She pointed to a small plane that was flying around pulling a sign: GOD LOVES YOU AND SO DO WE.
Ruth Graham, Billy Graham’s wife had arranged for the plane. It was this expression of love that created a huge turning point for Nixon. Graham’s act gave Nixon the courage and desire to recover.
If you make this post about Nixon, Graham, religion, or politics then you missed the point. Who is the “Nixon” in your life right now? Nixon was not very popular when Graham hired the plane. Can you be “Graham?” Love is an incredibly powerful tool that is so often overlooked -especially for the “Nixon’s” in this world. Everyone has a “Nixon” in their life and everyone can be a “Graham.”
With Gratitude,
Beth
