Motivational Monday!

Over this past weekend I watched a few of the New York Yankees games. They had a 4-game series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Truthfully, I am a Philadelphia Phillies fan deep down, but my husband and mother-in-law had the game on, so I enjoyed watching one of the greatest rivalries in sports history.

As I was watching the various pitchers throughout the series come and go, I thought about how much pressure there is on this particular position. Part of the pressure is that they are being asked to perform in front of 40,000 people in person and probably another 150,000 or more are watching on TV. Can you imagine if that was part of your job description? Oh, wait— and when you are no longer performing up to par, you will be shamefully removed from you position (in front of said crowd) with a public meeting that includes your boss and a few of your closest colleagues! And after this embarrassing and regretful dismissal, you will be called back in a few days to try and do it all over again! No way! I have a newfound respect for all pitchers!

Now, lets’ think about us. We will likely never be in that position in Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium, but we are the key player in our own game called life. Walking off the mound isn’t an option for us and neither is not pitching—you wouldn’t be reading theses posts daily if it were an option! LET’S GO! What do you want? Please answer that question right now. Write it down and let’s go after it with complete abandon. Life is too short to accept anything less. Let’s use a quote my friend Karen shared with me yesterday from the NY Times regarding the Tokyo Olympics: Time to go big, because holding back now helps nobody.

With Gratitude,

Beth
