An Untraditional Valentine’s Day

I am going to take a very untraditional approach to Valentine’s Day this year. First, I have never been a fan of Valentine’s Day as a complete marketing ploy nor am I a fan of the price-gouging that goes along with it. Second, it’s not celebrated by everyone which makes me uncomfortable. And third, for those who do celebrate, it can very quickly (on social media) become a “keeping up with the Joneses” kind of day – and I REALLY HATE THAT!

So today, I am going to have a very private Valentine’s Day. I am going to reach out to those that I love and take a moment to tell them so – thoughtfully, privately, and without contributing to Hallmark, Godiva, or the local floral shop.

Love is an incredibly powerful emotion and it can be shared in many more ways than just romantic love. Actively spreading love changes everyone psychologically and physically; it also creates a sense of safety, increases positivity, and reduces fear. Today, take a moment and spread the love!

XOXO
