On Tuesday, a James Madison University mom posted a picture on Facebook. Her daughter was sitting in the dining hall when a girl walked up to her and placed a KIND Snacks bar next to her computer and walked away. The bar had a note wrapped around it that said, “You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved.” Under the quote was the word HAPPINESS in all caps.
The divine twist on this story is that the girl who received this note has cerebral palsey and epilepsy and was never supposed to walk or talk—but is currently a fully engaged college sophomore! Clearly, this young lady has moved a lot of mountains in her young life! My daughter received a KIND Snacks bar too. The quote on her bar read, “It’s a bad day, not a bad life.”
Tuesday was Suicide Prevention Day, perhaps that’s why James Madison University created this Kind Campaign. Mental health is serious. The suicide rate is currently the highest it has been in 28 years. Every 40 seconds someone loses their life to suicide. Be kind. Help someone who is struggling. Check out Project Semicolon or World Health Organization (WHO). Every life matters!
With Gratitude,
Beth
