“When things go wrong, don’t go with them.” Paul Martinelli

Paul Martinelli has a number a of great quotes, but this one I love because it’s not only powerful, it’s also funny. Every time I have heard him say these words, he repeats them so they sink in. Things go wrong all the time, and very often, without even thinking, we go with them. It’s all about using the power of our minds to avoid our natural inclination to go down the rabbit hole.

Take a moment to think about the last thing that went wrong. It can be little or big. Was it an argument with a family member or something at work? How did you respond? Did you “go with them”? Did you get angry? Did you feel defeated? Did you give up and quit?

Now think about what other options you had when this thing went wrong. Could you see it as a learning experience? Could you see it as an opportunity for you to grow? Could you use it as inspiration and motivation to succeed? Paul Martinelli gives great advice all the time and, “When things go wrong, don’t go with them,” is one of his best. It can also absolutley be used retroactively—changing our mindset is always available to us, it’s our choice. Choose wisely!

With Gratitude,

Beth
