“Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.” ~ Henry Ford

So it has been a rough couple of weeks for me. I have made some mistakes within my business that I am not happy about. I’m not even certain that “mistake” is really the best word but let’s just say that things didn’t play out as I had planned.

As I vented to my husband, he was incredibly supportive; he gave me what I call the “them, they, their speech,” which for me means I am blaming others and making excuses for my failures. I appreciated the support but I knew I had to look my failures straight in the face and ask “What could I have done better?” The answer for me was “A lot!”

Failure is not only opportunity, it’s a teacher, it’s a blessing, and it’s also a big fat lesson. Looking at my 2 recent failures I realized one was completely beyond my control. The other failure was all on me. I had mismanaged my time. I can completely own that failure and now I know exactly what I will and will not do next time. That failure will never happen again. In a convoluted kind of way, I’m glad it happened because that failure just upped my game.

Happy Friday,
Beth

Here is one more great quote about failure from one of my favorites, Napoleon Hill from Think and Grow Rich:

“When Defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal.”
