Friday’s Quote

“It’s not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it.” Seneca

I imagine that most people who look at my life think, “Slow down, for goodness sake; stop all the running.” Even ask my husband, I know I drive him batty. I pack things into a day like the world is coming to an end. As my Dad would say, “She’s always on the move.”

This kind of life has it’s very obvious ups and downs. I am certain that I am addicted to being busy (which will be dissected in another post someday soon), but for now, let’s simply address Seneca’s profound words. None of us know how long we will live, but how and why are we wasting the time we have?

To extract the most out of this quote, we have to say the thing we don’t want to say which is, “What if…” We have to treat time as the precious commodity that it is. I’m 55 and I want to see family and friends, have FUN, learn, explore, etc. I think the quote that resonates with me the most is this:

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “Wow what a ride!” ~ Hunter S. Thompson

Happy Friday – enjoy the ride!!
