Friday’s Quote

“Everything will be ok in the end. If it’s not ok, it’s not the end.” Unknown

All of us have heard the first half of this quote I’m sure, but it is the latter half that packs the bigger punch! It’s easy to say “Everything is going to be ok” but it never feels like it when we are in the thick of it all.

I recently read about some research from the University of Miami. Volunteers were asked to describe something bad that happened to them. Then, they were asked to list the ways they benefited from this bad experience. The researchers discovered that the simple exercise of writing at least one benefit of a bad experience made people feel happier, less stressed, and it seemingly had a positive effect on their health.

So ask yourself: “how did I benefit from this experience?” Everything might not be ok and it might not be the end, but turning the table on this situation might be exactly what you need right now. “Ok” and “the end” are both coming, but today write down the “benefit” for your own health and happiness.

With Gratitude,
Beth
