Motivational Monday!

Saturday morning, while visiting our daughter in Washington, District of Columbia, we visited Eastern Market. It is a really cool outdoor market with all different types of vendors. It was a beautiful morning so we strolled leisurely through this eclectic market checking out all the various and sundry items for sale.

As we were leaving I noticed a young woman, maybe in her early twenties, walking with crutches. It wasn’t the “normal” crutches situation, this was different; both of her legs appeared lame. I marveled at her tenacity and strength. I questioned in my own mind not only what was wrong but also how difficult her task must be, especially in this busy market. Instantly, I was aware of my own legs for the first time. I could feel their strength holding me up. I had a wave of emotions flood my psyche from gratitude to sadness.

Life can be really difficult at times for all of us. We each have our own lot in life—but we also have choices. Wallowing is a choice for sure. Or we can choose to be all badass, grab our crutches, and tackle the busy market. It won’t be easy, but who and what do you want to be? This woman inspired me immensely. I’m choosing badass. You?

With Gratitude,
Beth
