Our Belief Matters To Our Health

I read a fascinating medical study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine that linked HIV-positive patients with their belief in God. The study was completed by Dr. Ironson from The University of Miami. This study examined the relationship between spirituality and disease progression.

Interestingly, it mattered whether the patient believed in a loving God versus a judgemental God. Her study found that patients who believed in a punishing God lost helper T cells (helper T cells help us fend off disease) 3X faster than those who believed in a loving God.

I know I am not supposed to talk about religion, but isn’t this scientific study also about our mind and our health? If you fall under the ‘judgemental” category wouldn’t you want to know that your mindset is potentially damaging your immune system? Let’s call this simply FYI.

With Gratitude,
Beth
