The Other Side of Fear

About a month ago my daughter, Katie, asked me to join her in taking a free class at Orangetheory Fitness Princeton. Without giving it much thought I said “Yes!” What I did not realize was that I had just scheduled my athletic day of reckoning.

Holy Moly! Orangetheory Fitness is an incredible one-hour workout. It includes a high-intensity circuit of the treadmill, rower, and floor/weights. It’s different every time you go. This program challenged me to work harder than I would have ever challenged myself. Everyone leaves covered in sweat. The instructors are incredibly supportive throughout—trust me, at 54 years old, I’m usually the oldest one in the room, I need their support.

Have you ever said to yourself, “There is no way I could do that?” Well, if I had known what Orangetheory Fitness was, I would have emphatically proclaimed those words. The truth is I am still kind of scared every time I go, but I talk myself out of the fear with one sentence “Just go and do your best.” So what is your Orange Theory? What are you afraid of doing or asking? I can tell you what’s on the other side of fear, but what’s the fun in that. I’d rather let you feel it for yourself after you face your fear. Let’s go, we got this!!

With Gratitude,
Beth
