What Have You Been Tolerating?

Yesterday I found a great quote: “A man treats a woman as how he sees her…and he learns how to treat her by watching how she treats herself.” Tony A. Gaskins Jr. Unfortunately, I was searching for this quote after a few unintentional but nonetheless disrespectful incidents happened at home to me.

Immediately, I let the offenders know the behavior was not going to be tolerated, not even a little bit. I don’t go to the mat for every infraction, but when I go everyone in my house knows I am not joking. Self-respect is incredibly important, and as a woman, it is arguably even more so. Confucius said, “Respect yourself and others will respect you.”

In that same vein, what have you been tolerating? Is there something at home or at work that has you feeling disrespected? Is it time to say something? Respecting yourself doesn’t have to be confrontational; it’s all about letting others know “this is not ok!” Maybe it is time to draw a line in the sand? Self-respect begins with you.

With Gratitude,
Beth
