Money is not the Problem

Adam Grant, a Wharton psychologist, argues that a coach is more important than a mentor: “Whereas mentors dole out words of wisdom, coaches roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty…they get into the arena to help us realize our potential.”

At first glance, this may look like an advertisement but in truth, it’s simply sound advice. Grant is absolutely right in his assertion. By adding a coach to the mix we find ourselves accountable as well as supported. It also means we are finally ready to achieve this goal and we have chosen the express lane to do so.

Hiring a professional coach is certainly an option, but so is asking someone in your life to be your “coach” for free. Money is not what is keeping you from attaining this goal—although it is a great excuse. We can only “get ready” for so long. It’s time to go after this goal. Hire a coach. Make the commitment today. You are the only one in your way.

With Gratitude,
Beth
