The Old Way

Yesterday, Doug and I went for a bike ride (in the wind, and I don’t recommend that, btw. LOL). A road nearby was recently detoured so we rode our bikes in that direction to see why. We stopped at the final barricade to view the road completely excavated and littered with construction equipment. That, of course, made me think.

Detour signs and barricades serve a distinct purpose; they make us aware that this way is no longer an option, whether that be temporarily or permanently. Isn’t that exactly what we are experiencing right now in this global pandemic? The old way is no longer an option and we aren’t sure when the road will open up. So what do we do?

Well, I know for sure I have never parked my car (or my bike) at the detour sign, squandering my time, waiting for the road to open up again. Immediately, I choose another route. I make a new plan. Sometimes it makes the journey more difficult and definitely more time-consuming, but I still arrive at my destination. What’s your destination? Please tell me you are not waiting for the old way to open up again! Now, more than ever, it is critical for us to define our destination. Waiting for this road to open up is wasting valuable time. Spend 5 minutes on this today—it’s clarity we all need. Seriously, don’t skip this step.

With Gratitude,
Beth
