Friday’s Quote

“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” Roald Dahl

Did you get the same beautiful image I did, in my mind’s eye, when I read Dahl’s quote? I felt like maybe I was that person yesterday at our family’s Thanksgiving dinner because I was so excited to see everyone. But I know, sadly, I am not always that person. I really want to be that person—always!

Let’s think about someone we don’t generally have good thoughts about. Unfortunately, we all have someone in mind, right? Let’s use Dahl’s quote to get an image in our mind of what our face looks like when we are having those thoughts. Did you visualize the color black, or some other dark color? Did a scowl begin to occupy your face, or perhaps your eyes began to stare daggers? And I am certain there was no smile on your face, so think about how “lovely” you looked. Me, too. Not so lovely, huh?

We don’t have to like someone to have good thoughts. They might be a terrible person, and in that case, our good thoughts could be, “I hope you change your ways or get help.” Our good thoughts might be for a power higher than us to intervene. We can have many good thoughts despite the fact that we don’t like someone—because our good thoughts are for us, too. They are only thoughts, not words. I would love to, “always look lovely,” wouldn’t you? It might be as simple always having a good thought!

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
