The Four Stages of Life

Carl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist, believed there are 4 stages we all go through in our lifetime. The stages are The Athlete, The Warrior, The Statesman, and The Spirit.

The Athlete stage is when we are completely preoccupied with our looks. The Warrior stage is when we are mainly concerned with “conquering the world” and achieving more than others. The Statesman stage is when we are no longer fulfilled by what we have achieved—we are now looking for ways to make a difference in the world. And lastly, The Spirit stage is when we realize the first 3 stages really aren’t who we are, we are spiritual beings having a human experience.

I hope these four stages resonate with you as much as they did with me. If you find yourself grappling with the notion of meaning and purpose, this might help. In serving others, we might find solace amongst our confusion. Ultimately, by helping others, maybe we will be helping ourselves.

With Gratitude,
Beth
