Motivational Monday!

March Madness has, in fact, been madness this year! It’s the first time ever in NCAA history that there is not a #1 seed in the final four! Actually, all the #1 seeds were eliminated before the Elite Eight—again, making NCAA history. I was asked if I would not discuss this in a Motivational Monday post by a diehard Purdue fan last week, which I honored, but now it’s time.

What does this history making year for the NCAA March Madness Tournament tell you and me about ourselves? Three of the four teams have never (ever) been to a final four game in their school’s history. San Diego State ranked #5 had to beat #1 Alabama. University of Miami (#5) had to knock off #1 Houston and #2 Texas! UConn #4 had to beat the #3 seed, Gonzaga. And Florida Atlantic University, the underdog of all underdogs, had to beat the #4 seed University of Tennessee, and the #3 seed Kansas State. Are you taking this all in?

I believe we need to put our sob stories away for good now! Toss the excuses in the trash—I know, we have created some really amazing excuses to avoid putting ourselves in any scary position that would allow us to possibly succeed. On paper, NONE OF THESE TEAMS should be in the final four! NONE! But yet, here we are! They are all ONE GAME away from playing of the national championship! And I will ask you and me the same question: WHY? Why are they here? What do they believe about themselves, that we aren’t also believing? It’s yet another story that begins with, “Against all odds…”. And that can be our story, too!

Let’s GO! WE GOT THIS!
