Tomorrow is December 1st. I cannot believe that we have one month left in 2023! And for me, December looks like it has about two weeks left in it for real, full-blown productive work. I’m calling the week of the 18th, when everyone starts to slowly but surely begin wrapping things up, a bust. And as 2023 is coming to a close, and if you have the time, it’s a really good idea to think about what you want 2024 to look like. My business partner and I did that yesterday for our business, but it’s just as important to think about this as an individual.

One question I believe is great to ask ourselves is this: “In what ways can I do my job better than I have ever done it before?” There are a few components to this. There is the actual job itself, but there are also the ancillary pieces like networking, work relationships, mentor/mentee arrangements, time management, etc., and then, most importantly, are you happy, energized, and fulfilled?

2024 is coming down the tracks like an express train at rush hour. There’s no stopping it nor slowing it down, but we can prepare for it in our own way. What do you want 2024 to look like? Are you prepared to do anything and everything so that it will be the year you want it to be OR are you simply willing to let your year go on autopilot, allowing everything play out as it will without your direction? It’s a choice that we all get. And if you choose planning, then make sure you schedule a quarterly reset so you can see how you are doing versus your plan.
