There is a famous quote by Jim Rohn where he states, “Don’t wish it were different, wish you were better.” On the eve of this holiday weekend, I’d like to adapt this quote to our current situation amidst this ongoing pandemic.
We’ve been in lockdown since early March. I can only speak for myself when I say that I’m over seeing my friends via Zoom, watching Netflix every night and staying in my home day after day. But they’re the cards we’ve all been dealt. So back to Rohn’s quote: “Wishing it were different” is essentially pointless. It isn’t going to be different by wishing it so. So what can we do?
There’s another quote that might help change the lens through which we look: “Joy is a decision, a really brave one, about how you are going to respond to life.” We can “be better” by choosing joy, but how do we it? Try answering the following question with a minimum of 3 answers: I am joyful about this upcoming holiday weekend because…”. We are all looking at the same pandemic but we get to choose our lens through which we see it. Choose to see the joyful parts of your life. Choose joy!
With Gratitude,
Beth
